It was an evening of cultural pride, community connection, and celebration of India’s growing relationship with Saudi Arabia. On September 7, 2026, the Indian community in Riyadh gathered for a special reception honouring Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Organised by the All-India Steering Committee under the patronage of the Embassy of India in Riyadh, the reception brought together diplomats, community leaders, business representatives, families, and members of the Indian diaspora.

An Evening of Unity at International Indian School Riyadh
The reception took place at 8:00 PM in the Boys’ Section Auditorium of International Indian School Riyadh (IISR).
Among the distinguished guests was H.E. Shri Vipul, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia, accompanied by senior embassy officials and prominent community representatives.
The evening featured a cultural presentation celebrating India’s rich heritage, while a welcome marching band performed by IISR students added a memorable ceremonial touch.
Beyond the performances, the gathering provided an opportunity for Indian expatriates, business leaders, and workers to interact with visiting dignitaries and strengthen their connection with the Indian diplomatic community.
Strengthening India–Saudi Arabia Relations
The community reception formed part of Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh’s first official bilateral visit to Saudi Arabia, held from September 5 to 8, 2026.
During the visit, he engaged with senior Saudi officials from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest, including human resources, skill development, environmental cooperation, and climate action.
These areas hold particular relevance for Indian families living in the Kingdom, where educational opportunities, professional development, and cross-cultural understanding play important roles in everyday life.

Why Such Community Events Matter for Children
For Indian parents raising children in Al Kharj and the wider Riyadh region, events like this highlight the value of maintaining a connection with one’s cultural roots while embracing life in Saudi Arabia.
Seeing students participate in ceremonial performances and cultural programmes offers a meaningful reminder that education extends beyond textbooks and classrooms.
Such experiences can help children appreciate:
- Cultural identity: Understanding and celebrating Indian traditions while respecting Saudi Arabian culture.
- Confidence and participation: Recognising the value of teamwork, public performances, and community involvement.
- Global awareness: Learning how international relationships influence communities, education, and future opportunities.
- Community belonging: Developing connections across generations and backgrounds.
